Google Backup and Sync - Safely back up your files

Backup and Sync is an application for Macs and PCs that back up files and photos safely on Google Drive and Google Photos, so they are no longer stuck on your computer and other devices. Just select the folder you want to back up, and we will take care of the rest.

You might save your most important files and photos in various places - your computers, your phones, various SD cards, and digital cameras that you use from time to time. It can be a challenge to keep all of these things safe, supported, and regulated, so today we introduce Backup and Synchronization. This is a simpler, faster and more reliable way to protect the files and photos that matter most to you. This new tool replaces the existing Google Photos desktop uploader and Drive for Mac / PC.

To download and install Backup and Sync on macOS:

1. On your computer, click Download for Mac.
2. Read Terms of Service and click Agree and download.
3. After downloading, open installbackupandsync.dmg.
4. Move Backup and Sync to your Applications folder.
5. Open Backup and Synchronization.
6. If you see a warning that 'Backup and Sync is an application downloaded from the Internet,' click Open.
7. Sign in with your Google Account username and password.
8. Select your synchronization settings and click Next.

To download and install Backup and Sync on Windows:

1. On your computer, click Download for windows PC
2. Read Terms of Service and click Agree and download.
3. After downloading, open installbackupandsync.exe.
4. If you see a window asking if you want to allow the program to make changes on your computer,
5. click Yes. If you are asked to restart your computer, do it now.
6. Start Backup and Synchronization.
7. Sign in with your Google Account username and password.
8. Select your synchronization settings and click Next.

Upload and store files from any folder on your computer, camera, and SD cards in the cloud. You can find your content on any phone, tablet, or computer using Google Drive, and your photos and videos in Google Photos.
